The Seychelles
One of the world's most beautiful charter grounds — crystal-clear water, granite islands and short distances between them. Equally suited to catamarans and sailing yachts.
A cruising overview
The inner Seychelles — Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, Curieuse, Cousin, Aride and Silhouette — sit close together within a 30-mile circle. Days at sea rarely exceed three hours, leaving most of the time for anchoring, snorkelling and exploring ashore.
Each island has its own character: granite boulders on La Digue, white sand on Curieuse, primeval forest on Praslin (home of the Coco de Mer palm). Wildlife is exceptional — giant tortoises, nesting turtles, and some of the clearest water of any tropical destination.
November – May
Stable conditions year-round, with the best weather typically April/May and October/November between the trade-wind seasons.

Good questions, good answers
- When is the best season?
- April–May and October–November are ideal — calm seas between the two trade-wind cycles. November–March is the warmer 'NW monsoon' season; May–September has stronger SE trades but excellent visibility.
- Bareboat or crewed?
- Crewed catamarans are the most popular — a captain and chef onboard transform the experience and handle island formalities. Bareboat is possible for experienced charterers.
- How do I get there?
- Direct flights to Mahé (SEZ) from Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, Addis Ababa, Frankfurt and Paris. Eden Island Marina is a 15-minute transfer from the airport.
- Are there crocodiles or sharks?
- No saltwater crocodiles. Reef sharks are present but harmless; whale sharks visit in season. The Seychelles is widely regarded as one of the safest tropical destinations in the world.
